In the 1970s, three kids fell for golf at the Dell. They grew up to be lifelong friends, and when the property went up for sale in 2009, they formed an LLC and bought it that spring. They're still avid golfers, and they call owning it a labor of love.
It's 9 holes in the foothills of Michaux State Forest, in the Pennsylvania Piedmont. Conococheague Creek runs through it, and you'll have to deal with it on several holes. The ground's flat and each green sits close to the next tee, so it's an easy walk. For 18 holes, play it once from the Blue tees, then go around again from the Whites.
Afterward, grab a seat under the deck and catch golf on the outdoor TV. It's a short way off Route 30, between Chambersburg and Gettysburg.
