Most foursomes finish Salt Pond in less than 3 hours, which leaves plenty of the day for the beach. It's a public, mid length 18 hole course in Bethany Beach, laid out among ponds, woods and a neighborhood of homes and townhomes.
Don't mistake short for easy. No. 16 is the hardest hole on the course, a par 4 where the back tees ask for a carry over water of well over 200 yards. There's a lay up to the right that leaves a shorter carry into a big green.
Art Whaley, an Eastern Shore Golf Hall of Famer, teaches by appointment, and clinics run for ladies, men and juniors. Phone your order to Birdies Snack Bar while you play. It sits right beside the ninth green, so you can grab it on the way through.
