William Penn signed the original deed for this land in 1684. One of the original buildings still stands as a private home facing the 16th green and the 17th tee.
The golf started as three holes, grew to nine, and became 18 after the club moved. Delaware Amateurs and high school state championships have been played here.
Maple Dale plays through wooded terrain with ponds scattered around, and its small, old-time greens put your course management to work. The club says it's very easy to walk, and you get seven different tee boxes to pick from. The range has indoor bays for bad weather, and from the deck you get views of the course and the wildlife around the ponds.
