When Cherokee Run was being built, project architect Harrison Minchew kept turning up arrowheads in the red Georgia clay, dozens of them. He compared it to finding shark's teeth. Cherokee people lived on this wooded ground for centuries.
It's an Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay design, opened in 1995 inside the Georgia International Horse Park. The City of Conyers has run it as a daily-play municipal course since 2010, with a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch every day.
There are 96 bunkers spread around the course. Most fairways are framed by tall pines, and granite outcroppings break through on a number of holes.
