Until 1957, the greens here were sand, and whoever finished a hole last in each group had to smooth them out before moving on. Back then it was the Corydon Country Club, a nine hole course its members founded in 1946.
The members bought more land and took it to 18 holes in 1995. In 1998 it became Old Capital Golf Club and opened to the public. Since 2012 it's belonged to Harrison County Golf, a company local residents formed to keep the course in local hands.
Today it rolls over hilly ground in Corydon, with plenty of trees and elevation change, and a wide creek with a bedrock bottom winds through the whole course. The greens? Smooth, fast bentgrass these days.
