The town of English used to sit where Lucas Oil Golf Course is now. After a flood in 1990, the town moved to higher ground, and Dr. Michael Hurdzan designed the 18 holes around what was left: the valley, the ridge tops and some of the old streets, which still cross several holes.
The front is mostly flat bottom land, and on 8 of the 9 holes you'll have lakes, Camp Fork Creek or the Little Blue River to deal with. You reach the back nine through an underpass by the Little Blue.
No. 17 is a fairly short par 4, yet it's the hardest hole at Lucas Oil. It doglegs right to a landing area roughly 20 yards wide, and the approach crosses a steep ravine. No. 18 tees off a hillside 80 feet above its fairway.
