Kentucky's bourbon country is home to Bardstown Country Club, whose Maywood course, a semi-private 18-hole layout, opened in 1995 on a David Pfaff design. The Osborne family took over in 2003 and hired Spencer Holt, a protege of Arthur Hills, who redesigned bunkers, tees and some greens and added length to many holes.
It blends traditional golf with links-style features over rolling ground, on bentgrass greens and Riviera bermuda fairways. Five sets of tees reach beyond 7,200 yards from the back, and state amateur championships and PGA section events are played here.
The Grill at Maywood, open to the public, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a sports bar-style lounge and a full bar pouring bourbons, beers, wines and cocktails. The club also hosts outings for schools, churches, businesses and charities, and junior camps for ages 6 and older.
