Golf has been part of My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown since 1933. The park is home to Federal Hill, the farm whose imagery runs through Stephen Foster's song, and the three-story house went up between 1812 and 1818.
The 18 holes play to a par 71 at 6,351 yards from the longest tees, on fairways that are open in places and lined with trees in others, with renovated bunkers and contoured greens. Some days you can smell bourbon being made nearby, and Heaven Hill, Jim Beam and Maker's Mark are an easy drive away.
The pro shop rents clubs, pull carts and riding carts, and there's beer service and a lounge area. Drinks, snacks and food are sold on site.
