Wildcat is the shorter of the two courses at Lexington's University Club of Kentucky, and it has more of a parkland feel than Big Blue. It winds through the trees and past creeks and ponds, with bent grass tee to green.
Walk into the clubhouse and you pass through the Hall of Heroes on your way to the pro shop. Among the notables there: Gay Brewer, JB Holmes, John Owens and Kentucky's Fabulous Five. The Clubhouse Grille is across the hall with the game on a big screen, and the public can use the range.
Length isn't really the point here. The bunkering and the green complexes are, and they reward a precise approach.
