Golfers drive over from Annapolis and Washington DC to play Bay Hills, a par 70 in Arnold that stretches to 6,423 yards from the Black tees. Water hazards and sand traps keep you honest, and the yardage is easy to read: a red marker in the middle of the fairway is 100 yards out, white is 150 yards and blue is 200 yards, with the same colors on the cart paths.
New owners have redone the upper deck, adding shaded seats and a retractable awning, and it looks out over several fairways and the water. The Overlook serves lunch and dinner and has a sports bar.
A men's group open to anyone plays Tuesday and Thursday mornings with rotating formats. The women's association goes out for 18 holes each Tuesday, in flights set by handicap. Tournaments are welcome, from 40 players up to a full shotgun.
