Bob Cupp took Swan Point from nine holes to 18 in the late 1980s, out in Southern Maryland along the Potomac River. Water or marsh now comes into play on 12 holes, deer and herons turn up on the fairways along with osprey and bald eagles, and the club calls it a Carolina style course.
Bermuda covers the fairways and rough, the greens are bent and Poa annua, and the Black tees carry a 73.1 rating with a 130 slope. No. 12 is a par 3 of 240 yards from the Blacks.
Phone ahead and the Midway Grill, between holes 9 and 10, will have your order ready at the turn. The Point Grill serves lunch and dinner and welcomes the public, and the Osprey Bar sits by the marina. Group outings run from 16 to 144, and Stay & Play packages add lodging.
