Dearborn Hills is known as the oldest public course in Michigan, with golf here since 1923. The state lists it as a historic site. The late Robert Herndon, a local developer and benefactor, built it.
Today it's a par-60 executive course down in the Rouge River valley, on Telegraph Road just north of Michigan Avenue. Several leagues play here, and there's Birdies Restaurant on site plus an outdoor patio at the 1995 brick clubhouse. The City of Dearborn owns and runs it through its parks department.
