Nobody brought earth movers or bulldozers to Highland Hills. It was built in 1925 on the land as it was, so the terrain you play is all natural, and it's one of the oldest public courses in Michigan. The front nine is fairly flat and open. The back nine rolls through the trees. It isn't a long course, but it can still push you, and the small greens tend to leave you shorter birdie putts. The bar and grill in the 1994 clubhouse makes burgers from fresh ground beef with homemade chips, and there are three beers on draft. Leagues play through the week, and the clubhouse takes outings too.
