Cascades has been on the southern side of the City of Jackson since 1929, and Jackson County's parks department runs it. Palmer and Nicklaus both played here, and it has hosted qualifiers for the Michigan Amateur, the Michigan Open and the U.S. Amateur.
Four teeing areas stretch it to 6,651 yards, with roomy fairways and big, rolling greens. You start with back-to-back par 5s, the first running downhill for 573 yards from the tips. No. 17 is the signature, an uphill par 4 of 383 yards from the Whites where the green falls hard from back to front.
Electric and pull carts are for rent. At the Ken Douglas Learning Center you'll find a range plus a 9-hole executive layout of 6 par 4s and 3 par 3s, no tee time needed. Leagues play Monday through Thursday.
