Paint Creek saves its big moment for last. The 18th is a par 3 to a peninsula green with water in front, and from the white tees you'll need to carry at least 125 yards of it. The green has two tiers, so when the pin's up top, land it up there.
Before that, you'll cross creeks and wetlands and play around doglegs, and your very first tee shot goes over Paint Creek itself. The greens are known for being hard to read.
It started out as a nine-hole public course in the 1960s. Local architect Don Childs oversaw the early 1990s remodel that grew it to 18 holes.
Even the range is different. It's an Aqua Range, one of three in Michigan, where you hit real golf balls that float out on 12-acre Lake Araho.
