Eight miles north of Gaylord, Black Bear mixes Scottish links-style holes with fairways lined by Northern Michigan woods. Expect elevation changes and large greens that see plenty of different pin spots. The White tees play 5,814 yards and the Blacks come in just under 6,500. It's family owned, and walk-ins are welcome.
Warm up at the driving range before you tee off. Men and ladies each have a weekly league played as a 4 person scramble, and seniors have a Monday drop-in league with no commitment.
The Bar & Grille is open to the public all year for fresh burgers, daily specials and a full bar. The Bear Bourbon Bar pours from more than 100 bourbons, and there's indoor simulator golf too; reserve it through the pro shop.
