Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters champion, laid out all 27 holes at Carolina National in Bolivia. They come as three nines, the Egret, the Heron and the Ibis, so you can pair them up differently each time you come back.
It's coastal parkland, with river and wetland views along the way. The Egret is generous from the tee, with wider landing areas, but its tiered greens want an approach with height and spin. The Ibis is where you're tempted: short par 4s, plus a par 5 you can reach if you catch it right.
Up above the fairways, Winding River Grille has terrace seating and serves the public as well as golfers.
