Spook Rock's ground was once Kane's Open, the country's first Boy Scout camp. Frank Duane designed and built the course there in Montebello, and all 18 holes were open by 1970. The name comes from Spook Rock Road, which took its own from Native American lore.
The range is lighted, so you can keep hitting after hours, and its target greens are bentgrass mowed to green height. Next to it there's a large putting green with plenty of holes, plus a chipping green. Forgot a club? The cashier's office lends them out for practice.
