The Little Hocking River makes a U-shaped bend at Oxbow, and the course is named for it. Jack Kidwell worked that bend into his design. Water comes into play on nine holes: four lakes, plus a tributary that feeds the river.
Kidwell's par 71 runs across rolling hills, with multi-level tees and large, undulating bentgrass greens.
Ned H. Tanner opened the course in 1973 with George and Lloyd Cowell, and the Tanner family has owned it since 2011.
The clubhouse overlooks the 18th, which the club calls a tough hole. The grill turns out hot and cold sandwiches and soups.
