Zoar Village Golf Course started as a family project. The Frank family took up the idea in 1973, bought land on the edge of Zoar Village, and brought in architect Geoffrey Cornish, who took the job on with Bill Robinson.
Ott Excavating built the greens, tees and many of the sand traps, using sand screened right on the property. Seeding wrapped up in October 1974, about 300 trees went in, and the course opened on April 19, 1975. Family members aged 8 to 70 years old all worked on the build, and the women and children cleared what felt like a million stones.
Many of Ohio's leading amateur and senior amateur events are played here, along with a college event the College of Wooster puts on.
