Mahoning's greens are where most holes get hard. Several are domed, some sit behind a false front, and others tilt severely from back to front.
The hardest hole is No. 7, a par 4 where your drive goes down into a valley. From there you hit uphill to a domed green that's tough to hold. The closer, No. 18, is a par 3 with a three-tiered green, so you want your tee shot to finish under the hole.
Golf here goes back to 1899, when the first nine opened as Liberty Country Club, and nine of the original holes are still in play. It hosted the Mahoning Valley Open in 1941 and 1942, and the Ezzo family has run it since John Ezzo bought it in 1943.
