Long before anyone hit a golf ball in Minerva, this ground was part of the Great Trail, a Native American path that people traveled and traded along for centuries. In colonial times the same route, also called the Tuscarawas Trail, linked Fort Duquesne and Fort Detroit.
Golf here started with nine holes in the 1960s. There are 27 holes now, up and down the hills through old hardwoods and past the lakes, and it's common to spot deer, foxes or a red-tailed hawk along the way. Both Minerva's and Malvern's school golf teams play here.
