The name Woussickett came out of a library. Bob and Tom Crockett bought the land in 1980, and before anyone could search Google, their wives, Beverly and Joanne, went looking for something better than a typical course name. They landed on a Native American name that means running stream. The double T at the end honors that heritage and matches the double T in Crockett.
Pipe Creek runs through the property, and a wooded creek basin comes into play on 10 holes. Sharp doglegs mix with open, links style holes.
The original course had a double green, an idea that came from the ones at St Andrews, seen on television during the British Open. It's still there, now shared by No. 12 and No. 18. Sit out on the patio at Pipe Creek Tavern and you can watch groups come in to it.
