Detwiler Park Golf Course Details
Detwiler Park runs along Maumee Bay, right next to the Point Place lighthouse, and that water gives this Toledo city course a lakeside feel.
The ground was park land long before it was golf. The Detwiler estate gave it to the City of Toledo in 1937. In 1969 local architect Arthur Hills was chosen to design the course, and it was dedicated in 1971.
It has wide fairways, gentle slopes, old trees and big greens. The outdoor deck looks over the 9th green, a good spot for a cold drink once you're done.
It's tournament ground, too. The Toledo Metro Golf Association has played its annual Toledo Amateur Championship here since 1971.
