Arkona Fairways is one of those Southwestern Ontario courses people call a hidden gems and for good reason. The place just feels mature: tall, tree-lined corridors, quick greens, and that calm "out of town" quiet that makes a round fly by. It'a an 18-hole layout with classic bones, the kind that rewards a steady tee ball and a tidy short game. If you're chasing birdies, you'l get your chances, but stray even a little and those trees turn into scorecard editors pretty fast.
What separates Arkona is balance. Holes tilt left and right in equal measure, so shot-makers get to work the ball both ways. Approach shots matter‚ greens are well-kept and quick enough that leaving yourself below the hole is a real thing. It's the sort of course where you can play the same yardage every week and still learn something new about how to attack it (or when to back off).
Signature moment? The short par 4s that tempt you into taking on more than you should. Lay back to your number and you're golden; press for the perfect angle and you're flirting with branches, bunkers, or both. That little risk reward itch is addictive, in a good way.
The club leans into community golf: leagues, events, and a welcoming vibe that keeps folks coming back. If you're passing through Lambton County or looking for a home base course that won't beat you up but won't let you sleepwalk either, Arkona Fairways earns a spot on the list.
