Barcovan Golf Club spreads across 150 acres of treed woodland in Quinte West, about 10 minutes south of Brighton, with Lake Ontario and the Weller's Bay inlet just to the south. Its layout dates to 1964, and a family has run it since 1973.
Water comes into play on more than ten holes, and the greens run fast and true. On the Blue and White handicap lines, No. 8 carries the 1, a par 4 of 400 yards from the Blues. Jennifer Kirby holds the White tee record of 64, set at the 2009 Ontario Junior Girls Championship.
Leagues include a Tuesday night men's twilight league and a Thursday ladies scramble over nine holes. PGA of Canada professionals teach lessons and clinics, and the pro shop books fittings with a Master Fitter. The licensed Tudor style clubhouse, home of the Barcovan Burger, has seating for 80.
