Pickering dates to 1953 and used to be called Seaton Golf Club. A housing development cut it to 7 holes in 2010, and it stayed shut through the 2011 and 2012 seasons while 2 new holes were built and the rest redone. It came back in 2013 as the 9-hole layout you play now.
The opener, Warm Up, is a 477-yard par 5 with trees on both sides and a marsh waiting past the green. Next comes a 442-yard par 4 with water down the whole left side. No. 4 is 136 yards and plays downhill; a miss short, left or right gets punished.
Tee times open 7 days ahead, and walk-ons play when there's room. There's a men's league, the ladies' league goes out Tuesday mornings, and tournaments for 20 to 72 people can add a licensed beverage cart and catered BBQ banquets.
