The Timber saves its climb for the back nine. Those holes rise to the highest ground at Hawk Ridge and run past the estate lots of an Orillia subdivision.
Hawk Ridge opened in 1991 as a single 18-hole course. It's 45 holes now: The Timber, The Meadow and the nine-hole Island course. The clubhouse has golf-side patios and a waterfall rock wall garden.
The front nine is quieter, mostly mature forest and calm ponds. Wherever you are, though, the greens have real movement in them. Take a second look before you putt.
