Piney Apple is named for what you play through: old growth forest and orchards, set among mountains in the apple country of northwestern Adams County. The orchards matter enough that the cart rules give them their own line. No carts, and no play, in the orchards.
You get the view before you hit a shot. From the first tee you see across a valley of orchards to a skyline of mountains, and the big drops and climbs on No. 12 and No. 18 bring it back late in the round.
No. 6 is a sharp dogleg left, and a long hitter can try to carry some very large specimen trees. No. 11 is the hard one. It's long, but the drive is the real problem, squeezed between old forest on the left and a row of trees on the right.
