Golf at King Valley grew out of a dairy farm. The Knisely family turned their old farmland into a course with golf pro and designer Frank Kiraly, opened the first 9 holes in the spring of 1999 and the rest in 2000, and they still own and run it today. You'll find it in King, just south of Claysburg.
The clubhouse has a wrap around front porch and serves sandwiches, hot dogs and cheeseburger dogs, and there's a Snack Shack at the 10th tee. Don't expect a beer, though. It's a dry township, so nothing alcoholic is sold.
Anyone can join the Conrail League on Thursday evenings, and seniors 58 and older get a tournament of their own every month. If a storm rolls in, shelters stand near the No. 3 tee and the No. 11 fairway.
