Quail Valley sits 5 miles east of Gettysburg and has been open since 1993. Its owners, Scott and Colyn Keller, are grandsons of Yankees great Charlie Keller. The two nines play nothing alike: the front threads through old trees, while the back opens up and brings water into play on seven of its nine holes.
The 1 handicap on both the men's and women's rows is No. 5, a 404-yard par 4 from the Maroon tees, on a par 72 of 6,901 yards. No. 13 is the signature hole, a par 3 to an island green with bunkers left and right. Most greens are small, with bunkers guarding them.
There's a 20 station range and a chipping area, and the Wednesday Night League plays 9-hole matches in two-person teams. The Loft Clubhouse Bar & Grill fills a restored barn with original woodwork from the 1860s and pours eight drafts.
