Rich Valley opened in 2003, a public 18-hole course in Mechanicsburg that plays to par 71. Tees, fairways and greens are bentgrass, the cart paths are concrete, and the carts are electric EZGOs with roofs and windshields.
What sets it apart is a walking-only 3-hole beginners loop with two par 3s and one par 4, kept to the same standard as the main course. Holes 2 and 3 each carry three tee boxes, so the loop can play as 3, 6 or 9 holes, and families are encouraged to start their kids there.
The natural grass range has a big hitting area and a putting green beside it, with a putting and chipping green by the pro shop. Leagues play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, plus a senior league. Outings run from 40 to 144 players.
