Whitetail has no houses, no freeway and no noise. Its 18 holes sit at the foot of the Tuscarora Mountain Range, between Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, and Clear Spring, Maryland. Frederick is 45 minutes away.
The previous owners of the ski resort started building it in the summer of 1999. Architect Rick Robbins guided the design and let the holes follow the land as it was. The course opened in May 2001. The clubhouse, with the pro shop and banquet space, came later, in April 2011.
The pro shop handles grip replacement and shaft repair. A dedicated PGA professional helps groups run their tournaments.
