Don't come to Valley at Eastport expecting a typical beach layout. Dennis Griffiths designed it as a finesse course, and it opened in 1988 beside the Intracoastal Waterway, just off Highway 17 between Little River and North Myrtle Beach.
The fairways are lined with trees. The mini-verde Bermuda greens have clever contours, and you'll see water and sand along the way.
Chipping and putting areas let you tune up the short game, and the pro shop sets up lessons. Afterward, Bogies at the Valley has the bar. The club calls it a first stop for a Grand Strand golf trip, and says it's especially fun for couples.
