The bunker on the 8th at Hell's Point runs nearly 125 yards, tee to green. It's one of Rees Jones' sculptured bunkers, and the course calls this short par 3 its most photographed hole. The deep part sits right in front of the green, and the only bailout is a small chipping area short and left.
It's an 18-hole public course down in the south end of Virginia Beach, and it winds through the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Tall pines line several holes, and water shows up more than once. The patio's the spot for a drink afterward.
Then there's the 17th, a short par 4 squeezed between water hazards. Plenty of golfers try to drive the green. The course's advice: play within yourself.
