Bellows Falls hides its second green completely. The par 5 rolls down into a basin roughly two stories deep, so members usually walk over to check the flag before they tee off.
It's a member-owned 9-hole club that anyone can play, and the layout is more than a century old. Scotsman David "Deacon" Brown, the 1886 Open Champion, laid it out in 1923 on farmland in Rockingham, with meadows, a brook and the Williams River. Holes have been lengthened over the years, but it's still largely his design.
The Canyon is a par 3 where you carry the ball over all kinds of trouble. The par 5 finish starts with an uphill tee shot and has sand in front of the green. Go long, though, and you're in the parking lot.
