The 11th at Ralph Myhre starts on the course's highest ground and falls all the way to its lowest. A pond waits on the left, a ditch crosses the fairway, and the course recommends three solid shots to a small green.
Middlebury College owns and runs this 18-hole public course, and its men's and women's golf teams play here. Tavern on the Tee, the restaurant and bar, isn't just for golfers.
Twelve greens sit up high, so take an extra club. Ron Prichard, an architect and Middlebury alumnus, redesigned the green complex on the 1st. The back nine wraps around the original nine with trouble down the right the whole way, and the course reckons it's about two strokes tougher than the front.
