Abraham Lincoln's family story is part of the grounds here. The park has his mother's original home, plus rebuilt copies of the 1782 cabin his father grew up in and the blacksmith shop where he learned his trade. Mordecai Lincoln, the President's favorite uncle, has his home here too.
Perry Maxwell and J. Press Maxwell designed the golf course, and it opened in 1957 across central Kentucky's rolling countryside. Bermuda grass fairways lead to bent grass greens, with established trees, lakes and four tee locations. No. 2 is a par 4 that stretches 434 yards from Tee 1. Par is 71, at 6,383 yards from those tees.
Beyond golf there's an 18-hole disc golf course, a 7.6-acre lake with largemouth bass and channel catfish, and a picnic shelter with grills by the cabins. The club house rents out for events and has a small kitchen.
