Before anyone teed off at Spring Meadows, the land was the Pollard family's dairy farm. Early in 1998, Gary, David, Jeff and Brad Pollard sat down with their father, James, and talked about making it an 18-hole course. The family's 1922 dairy barn is still standing, and these days it hosts weddings and banquets off a wraparound deck that looks out across the course.
Bradley Booth drew up the design. Fred Stone shaped it, a trade he picked up from his father, Lewis, who rose to head shaper for Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s company. Nine holes opened in October 1999 as a trial, and all 18 were ready by 2001.
After a round, the Players' Lounge has food and 16 beers on tap, and the weekly leagues run from the Monday Night Scramble to Thursday's ladies' league.
