Providence details

Providence Golf Club has a unique history. The original course located on the Pocoshock Creek property was closed in 1985. A new development team purchased the property and an adjacent parcel of land. The additional acreage hosts six new holes while the area of the "original" Pocoshock layout now hosting longer, more spacious holes with a new driving range and short game practice facility. Virginia's own Lester George, one of the leading golf course architects in the world was chosen to help Providence become a "Phoenix"rising from the ashes, thus the Providence logo. George designer of Kinloch Golf Club, the highest ranked golf course in the history of Virginia, used his creative design and unique ability to create Providence in 2002. His creative design combined with our excellent conditioning and service allowed us to receive a 4 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest. The highest rating offered any club in Virginia. Quiet ponds, bird-filled wetlands and majestic trees are part of what makes for a picturesque and memorable round. George blended together these natural features to create an intriguing course where good shots are rewarded and golfers are challenged to take the dare in a number of risk-reward situations. This is a modern championship level course with great design integrity that will astonish you with its variety. You won't be playing the same shot all the time on this course, There are not a lot of rolling hills, but there are a lot of wetlands, creeks and ponds to provide a challenge.
