The historic Rankin House goes back to the 1800s, and it sits just off the right side of Deerfield's 4th green, at the end of a long par 4.
It's a public course on 145 acres in Newark, with the old forest of White Clay Creek State Park wrapped around it. Audubon International has certified it as a Cooperative Sanctuary.
William Gordon designed it as a par 70 with sloped fairways and contoured greens. No. 10 is a par 5 played from a raised tee, with water down the left side.
The Deerfield Golf Academy runs lessons, clinics and junior camps, and women play an 18 hole league on Tuesdays. The Pub & Grille has twelve beers on draft and a fire pit out on the patio.
