Look closely at the Country Land logo and you'll see two golf clubs crossed over a treble clef. It's a nod to the club's history. Its sister property, Lanierland Music Park, opened in 1970 and brought George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard to a small open-air pavilion.
Country Land itself goes back to 1991, when four friends set out to build a course for North Georgia's hard-working folks to play after a day in the factories and fields.
Mike Young designed it up on Forsyth County's second highest point, looking out to the Appalachian Mountains and the valleys around Lake Lanier. Expect plenty of hills and narrow fairways, plus small Bermuda greens that slope.
The grill makes biscuits from scratch every morning, and the wraparound patio shares the view.
