P B Dye details

You’ll also use every club in the bag to play virtually every shot in the book. It’s vintage P.B. Dye, with a flair for the extravagant. No matter how many times you play the course, it will continually reward you with fun, challenging play. Located just 30 minutes from the Capital Beltway, P.B. Dye Golf Club opened in 1999 and is carved from 250 acres of rolling hills and woodlands, affording you the feeling of complete seclusion to enjoy your game. Dye’s signature features are generously on display here: From rolling fairways bordered with mounds and moguls, multilevel greens, to five sets of deeply terraced tee boxes, deep pot bunkers. From tee boxes and greens edged with railroad ties, contrasting green sizes, both quite large and very small, to artistic rock sculptures, tee to green bent grass, to an unforgiving but stunning island green on the 11th hole. Players also face water on four holes, while ten others require shots over small streams and valleys. There are also multiple blind shots off the tee. The most unforgettable feature at the golf club is the beautiful waterfall and twin ponds that flank the 9th and 18th greens. The course is fairly wide open and doesn’t look all that intimidating at first glance. But once you’re out there, watch out. Expect the in-between game to be tested, as this course places a premium on accurate approach shots. Large, well-undulated greens with plenty of break provide a challenging putting surface. P.B. Dye Golf Club is the only course in Maryland to feature Penn G-2 bent grass greens. One of the newer seed varieties, G-2 is also used at the Pinehurst No. 2 course. Throughout the course, closely mowed collection areas and the large greens replicate conditions seen on the PGA tour. All in all, the image you’ll take away from this course will be unmistakably P.B. Dye.
