In 2004 The West Wing filmed at Maple Run, so Martin Sheen and Richard Schiff have walked these greens. The course sits in the Catoctin Mountain region close to Camp David, and the club says it was a favorite stop for President Bill Clinton while he was in office.
The front and back nines don't play alike. The front is fairly open, with small greens that slope hard, and the club warns that, depending on the pin, some of them can get diabolical. The back nine heads into the woods. It's tighter off the tee, but the greens get bigger and easier.
It's an 18-hole par 72 in Thurmont. Call the clubhouse ahead if you'd rather ride a golf motorcycle than a cart.
