Water touches eight holes at Keystone Links, just south of Peterborough, and the rest of the trouble comes from naturally rolling ground, built up mounds and well placed sand. Four sets of tees, with 9 and 18 hole rounds on offer.
The course rates No. 5 its toughest: a par 4 of 439 yards from the Blue tees, with out of bounds down the entire left side from tee to green. On No. 10, clearing the pond in the fairway with a driver takes 220 yards of carry, or you can play it with two medium irons.
The range keeps to irons, or anything under 175 yards, so bring the short game. When the weather closes the course, three simulators offer over 100 courses. Men play league on Tuesday, senior men Wednesday mornings, ladies Thursday; the dining room and snack bar handle food.
