John Robinson laid out Springfield in Guelph, and the club dates to 1989. It plays a lot like a South Carolina course. The headline is No. 13, a par 4 and the club's signature: your tee shot crosses the lake to a guarded fairway, and the approach goes back over water to an island green. Make birdie there and you join the club's Clan of the Island Green.
No. 7, a 199-yard par 3, sits on the highest ground on the course, so the wind has a say in both distance and line.
The Pro Shop is in the old farmhouse beside the main clubhouse, run by a CPGA Professional who also does club fitting. The Back Patio & Lounge has a panoramic view of the course, and event spaces handle 15 to 160 people for tournaments, weddings and dinner parties.
