Two courses share Remington Parkview's ground along the Rouge River valley in Markham, about 20 minutes from downtown Toronto, for 36 holes in all.
The Valley Course is the more popular of the pair: a 5,900 yard links that follows the river past old forest, where wildlife often turns up and a train trestle crosses high overhead. It isn't long, but the club warns that big numbers on the card are common there.
The Upper Course runs long and flat at over 6,400 yards, with tight contoured fairways, several tee decks and greens that fool you, so expect to hit every club in the bag.
The lounge serves breakfast, sandwiches to take on the course, and beer and wings after. There are newly remodeled locker rooms, a pro shop with club rentals, and a practice area with a bunker plus chipping and putting space.
