Death Valley is only 115 yards. In the 1947 Tam O'Shanter Open, an 18-year-old Arnold Palmer stood 7 under par through 13 holes before the par 3 14th undid him. The name comes from the good rounds that have died down in it.
Sam Snead shot 65 here in an exhibition in 1949. The course has belonged to the Kerins family since Jack and Mary Lou bought it in 1947, and they still run it in Hermitage.
Expect fast bentgrass greens, watered fairways, and big hardwoods and pines framing holes that look out over the wooded hills of the Shenango Valley.
