Pohick Bay's 2nd hole wants a high shot right away. It's a par 3, and a deep ravine runs from the tee box nearly all the way to the green.
The course was built in 1982 out on Lorton's Mason Neck Peninsula, and between the rolling ground and some serious water hazards, you'll spend the day plotting your way around. It finishes with a par 5 that bends slightly left, so a good drive on the 18th puts you in business.
NOVA Parks runs it, and PGA pros give lessons.
The course names George W. Cobb as its architect. He also designed the little par 3 course at Augusta National, with input from Clifford Roberts.
