Rees Jones took his inspiration for the Green Course from his father's Gold Course, and today the father's course and the son's sit side by side at Golden Horseshoe. The son's course runs longer than the Gold, but it'll forgive a few more misses.
Jones calls it a shotmaker's course. It opened in 1991, carved out of rugged timberland full of huge beech, oak and pine, and more than 100 bunkers are waiting in it.
No. 11 is where it gets dramatic: a par 3 played from elevated tees, over a pond, to an amphitheater green with four deep pot bunkers around it.
The Green Course has hosted a USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship, and NCAA tournaments too.
